#SPICares about Dallas Vogel Alcove

'Approximately 3,000 children in Dallas go to sleep each night without a home of their own."

Vogel Alcove, 2021

Since 1987, the Dallas-based non-profit, Vogel Alcove, has worked to provide over 17,000 homeless children and their families in the area overcome and survive the effects of homelessness.

While Dallas serves as the 6th largest GDP of any American city and ranks #5 among metropolitan cities for charitable giving, Dallas also has one of the highest child poverty rates in the country among cities with more than 1 million people. Two of every five children in Dallas grow up in poverty. While there are many circumstances that lead to homelessness, Vogel Alcove remarks, poverty is the number one reason.

So, for the past 35 years, Vogel Alcove has made it their mission “to help young children and their families overcome the lasting and traumatic effects of homelessness.” The organization approaches this complex issue by centering their services around fostering and/or rehabilitating these kids and their parents’ physical, intellectual, emotional, and social wellbeing. Services include daily meals, free daycare, interactive classrooms, summer and school holiday camps, community building, onsite access to medical care, mental health support, resources such as diapers and clothes, assistance procuring housing and employment, parental training, and more.

To show our support for this wonderful organization, and to help celebrate their 35th Anniversary, SPI Advisory is making a donation towards their mission of “Rewiring Brains, Repairing Hearts, [and] Restoring Families” facing the traumatic effects of homelessness in the Dallas area.
